Yoga Citta Vritti Nirodaha

The State of Oneness (yoga) is achieved through the cessation of thought fluctuations.

There are many pathways and practices that are known as yoga, all achieve the same result, oneness or union between self and spirit.

“Yoga occurs when the doer and the action are one.”

Yoga can be achieved thru many different systems: Thru the karma yoga of service, or the bhakti yoga of devotion, the nada yoga of sound and music, the kundalini yoga of energy there are truly an infinite number of paths to oneness and union. It is the faith and dedication that define a yogi not the times they live in nor the style of discipline.

Each pathway has its own practices and yet they all follow the ancient teachings of yoga as expounded upon by the great sages svatmarama and patanjali. These ancient seekers of the spiritual path helped define a system of practices designed to help the initiate achieve the state of enlightenment known as samhadi or nirvana.

These practices follow a system of 8 limbs:
The Yamas or Restraints
Ahimsa -Harmlessness (non violence, refraining from injury)
Asteya- Respect (non stealing)
Aparigraha- Honoring (non hoarding, non possesivness)
Satya- Honesty and Truthfulness
Bramacharya-Continence (right direction of sexual energies, moderation, abstinence)

The Niyamas or Observances:
Saucha- Purity
Santosha- Contentment
Tapas- Austerity
Svadhyaya- Scriptual Study
Isvarapranidhana- Surrender to God

The Asanas or Poses and Postures:
Pranayama breating practices and breath control
Pratayahara the withdrawl from sense perception
Dhrana known as single pointed focus
Dhyana the state of true meditation
Samhadi the state of oneness or enlightenment

These arcane practices were cultivated by the renunciates, sadhus, astetics, and mystics thousands of years ago.
